With 8 years of R&D, Patagonia has designed the perfect lightweight rucksack for fast ascents, the Ascensionist Pack 35L. It has every feature that you need and nothing else. The Ascensionist can also pack quickly thanks to a single motion closure on the asymmetrical spindrift collar, and the secondary collar protects your gear when conditions worsen and allows for over-stuffing. The ergonomic shoulder straps will keep you comfortable over long periods and follow the contours of your body. There are also four rows of daisy chains on the exterior providing fastening options for ropes, helmets, and pads. Any ice tools you are carrying can be attached via an integrated tool pocket and buckle, keeping the tips of most tools covered. Other features include ski fastening compression straps, a tapered profile for elbow clearance, and a zip pocket on the lid for essentials. A DWR (durable water repellent) finish adds durability and water protection.

- The tall spindrift collar has a dual closure that allows the pack to expand or collapse, depending on the load.
- Removable framesheet and hip-belt pads give the pack structure and help to support heavy loads, but can be removed for lightweight pursuits.
- Hip belt has adjustable pads that can be removed to create a simple webbing hip belt, or you can remove the entire hip belt for ultralight travel.
- Center sheath ice axe carry system accommodates a wide assortment of axes.
- Daisy chains on front and side panels provide lashing options; compression straps on sides help manage different size loads.
- Zippered pocket on lid provides easy access to small items.
