Job Opportunity: Full-Time Purchaser at Bananafingers
Position: Full-Time Purchaser
Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week
Salary: Dependent on experience
Start Date: ASAP
Location: Bristol BS5 9DF
(This role is entirely office-based during the training period, with potential for part-time home working once proficient.)

Bananafingers is a Bristol and France based retail company specialising in climbing, camping, and mountaineering equipment. We serve a diverse customer base through both our online store and physical locations, catering to climbers across the UK and internationally. 

We’re passionate about outdoor pursuits and dedicated to providing our customers with high-quality gear and exceptional service. To help manage our growing inventory and streamline procurement processes, we are looking for an energetic, organised, and motivated Purchaser to join our team.

Job Role

As a Purchaser, you will oversee and manage our procurement operations, ensuring stock availability, maintaining supplier relationships, and supporting the efficiency of our supply chain. You will work closely with suppliers, internal teams, and management to meet our business goals.

Key Responsibilities

Supplier Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers and distributors through email, phone calls, and in-person meetings to ensure smooth operations and favorable terms.
Inventory and Stock Management:
- Analyse sales data to forecast demand and maintain optimal stock levels.
- Manage and monitor the automated top-up ordering system.
- Create and manage seasonal purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and alignment with business needs.
Database and System Maintenance:
- Maintain accuracy in the stock-keeping database, ensuring data integrity.
- Update systems with new product details and provide regular updates to relevant teams.
Team Collaboration:
- Relay information about incoming deliveries, new products, and clearance items to the marketing team.
- Work closely with the e-commerce team to ensure they have up-to-date product information.
- Lead and manage the small purchasing team, fostering collaboration and efficiency.
Financial Oversight:
- Review and manage financial records and invoices related to purchasing operations.

Key Qualifications and Skills

Numerical and Analytical Skills:
- Strong numerical reasoning abilities and proficiency in analysing sales and inventory data.
- Experience in making informed decisions based on data.
Organisational and Decision-Making Skills:
- Ability to manage multiple tasks with varying deadlines and priorities.
- Proven decision-making skills, balancing both short-term needs and long-term goals.
Technical Proficiency:
- Strong knowledge of Google Workspace (especially Google Sheets) or Microsoft Excel.
- Competence in maintaining and updating digital databases.
Attention to Detail:
- Accuracy in managing purchase orders and maintaining records.
- Ability to multi-task and pick up and leave tasks without loss of accuracy or unintended repetition.
Industry Knowledge:
- An understanding of climbing, camping, and general outdoor pursuits is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with industry trends and seasonal product cycles is a plus.
Additional Skills:
- Fluency in French is an advantage but not required.
