Grivel's Air Tech Evo is "The classic ice axe par excellence" and probably the most popular ice axe among guides in the Alps. A very solid, versatile and efficient loyal companion to your adventures in all situations in summer and winter from level F to TD: tapered ridges, bergschrund, steep snow slopes, gulley's, glacier tours, classic climbs…. It is light, its curvature, its blade and its balance will allow you to overcome a passage in steep ice without worries, from the Diable on to the Mont Blanc du Tacul, the Matterhorn, the north east of the Courtes… or at Gasherbrum 2 where between 6000m and 7000m the terrain is technical.
The G-bone shaft with lateral grooves allows greater resistance with a lower thickness, making the shaft excellent when used as an anchor, but it is curved just right, with perfectly balanced weight and swing to make it aggressive enough to climb steep sections with it. The rubber shaft is very comfortable to hold and provides excellent ergonomic grip. The steel hot-forged blade is very strong and adapts well to difficult conditions such as passages in ice, and the shovel is perfectly designed for chopping steps and ledges. The leash is perfect for technical sections especially when you have to wear big gloves or down mittens.
Conditions and glaciers in the Alps have changed a lot in recent years.
