Western Mountaineering is a California-based company that was started over 30 years ago by two mountaineers with a vision of uncompromised excellence.
In the early days, Western Mountaineering was solely a sleeping bag firm, and this allowed them to hone their ability to make pound-for-pound the warmest expedition equipment on the market.
Despite the growth of their company Western Mountaineering have remained true to their roots. They still make all their sleeping bags and jackets in their San Jose factory, which ensures that they can continue to make all their kit to the highest standards and with impeccable quality control.
Today there are many down-filled sleeping bags and garments to choose from, however not all down is the same. Western Mountaineering use the best quality Eastern European goose down. This is independently tested in Europe and surpasses the EU 900 fill power criteria. It is quite simply the best there is!
